More Money = Better Drone? Not Always!

During my time of learning about drones and how to fly, I struggled with deciding what type of drone to buy. I knew I wanted a camera drone, but nothing too expensive as I was just learning how to fly. I settled on a middle of the road, beginner level, adult drone with a camera and GPS. I knew nothing about the manufacturers outside of DJI and I wasn’t ready for that kind of price commitment. I also didn’t want to go for the really cheap “toy” category of drones, so I just chose a drone that had the features I wanted at around the $200 price point.

I flew it a few times and of course had a few little mishaps, nothing major, but it did crack the fuselage. It still flies, but I always kind of struggled with this drone. The pictures were kind of grainy and I didn’t have great control over the camera and small movements of the drone. In an effort to improve my flying skills I would often fly other drones without cameras, just to get practice.

However, I still wanted to take pictures and began to look around to see if there was a cheaper drone with a camera that I could buy to try to get better at flying and taking pictures.

Enter my new thirty-dollar GPS drone with camera! Yes – you read right, a thirty-dollar drone that has a camera, GPS, and a remote. I figured if it’s not very good, I can still use it when teaching kids and not have to worry about expensive equipment getting ruined, so I went for it! What a great choice!

This drone came with it’s own little carrying case, 2 batteries, a camera, GPS, remate, extra props and landing horse. It is very light, but oddly stable and easy to fly even in a light wind. It also takes pretty darn good pictures for a $30 drone. Look at the comparison:

This seems like a clear win to me! I get to fly my drone worry free and take decent pictures in the process. So, I figured I’d share my great find with you all. Enjoy!
